Little Bluestem is a true prairie native, and one of the hardest-working grasses you can plant in a Midwestern landscape. Slender blue-green blades stand crisply upright through summer, then ignite into warm copper and mahogany tones that hold their color well into winter. It asks for almost nothing—full sun and lean, dry soil suit it perfectly, and it shrugs off drought once established. Songbirds shelter and feed among its clumps, while deer and rabbits leave it alone.
